Plank brings the beauty of The Sun to the Web

Personal. Political. Provocative. Ad-free. The Sun's tag line describes a unique magazine that needed a unique website. That's why they turned to Plank.
Plank used that tag line for the basis of the design. Lead designer GW Brazier really let his creative juices flow, coming up with a stimulating yet clean design. One of the unique aspects of The Sun is the actual magazine changes its front cover color for every issue. Plank has taken this concept to the website - while the main colour this month is purple like the cover logo, next month it may be indigo blue, or whatever The Sun's creative staff decides. And that colour change is modified by The Sun staff themselves with a simple click of a mouse using our easy to use Content Management System. And it's not just the current issue - check out a back issue and you'll see a totally different colour!
Another focus for The Sun was their need for a robust eCommerce system. A whole new online store integrates subscription purchases, back issues, donations, books and other specialities from The Sun. Again, the store is easy to use, and easy to manage by The Sun staff themselves. These are always Plank philosophies.
But it's not just the look and the store, it's the content. Plank has taken over 30 years of magazine issues and entered tables of contents for all of them, as well as a considerable amount of the actual magazine content. The content is so good, more than one Plank staffer was caught reading when they should have been working!
Plank's goal was to bring the special experience of The Sun to the web. Readers of The Sun are incredibly passionate about the magazine and the fact that it's ad-free. Plank has recreated that experience in a unique way; in a way that would work as a great platform for any online magazine.
All of this has added up to a very successful website after only a few weeks of launch. Traffic statistics continue to climb every day and online purchases are up. At Plank, it's never just about the look, it's about the results.
