In 2010, Plank started getting restless. We wanted to find a way to give back to our beloved Montreal community. We have a long history with non-profit organizations, so when Head & Hands applied to be Plank’s Pro-Bono Project, we knew we could make magic happen for them.
For the past 40 years, Head & Hands has been a force within the community, providing programs, resources and support to youth and other groups. Over time, however, their website had become a bit dated and hard to manage. Even though so much of their work is about physically being in the community, their online presence was an area where they knew needed some help.
After many fun meetings and Basecamp discussions, we determined that the best place to start was to give the Head & Hands logo some proper TLC!
Maria Frangos, Plank’s Art Director, pored over brands, colours, shapes, and many other logo options that all finally brought her to the most iconic logo of all for this group – The Hand. The logo speaks to strength, power, support, and best of all it’s comprised of words, both in French and English that truly define who Head & Hands is.
Our next feat was to design and develop a website that would give the amazing staff and program directors at Head & Hands the flexibility to update the site with up-to-date information and news.
Built using WordPress, the site’s functions allow them to manage their own content, customize their Home Page Features and showcase program information, schedules, and special events.
After a great collaborative effort, we couldn’t be happier to announce the launch of the new Head & Hands website. With just over a year of working together, we can attest that Head & Hands is a group of amazing individuals and organizations like theirs are key to a happy and healthy community.
Visit their site, support their cause and find your own way to give back to your local community.
