One Website at a Time
Anyone who knows me personally knows that I have become a major baseball fan over the past few years. While I grew up playing little league, my teenage years led me into various different non-sport related pursuits. I remained a fan of the Expos but only attended a game or two a year. As the organization and management failed the fans—and players!—for years, I, like many other Montrealers, had a hard time investing emotionally into our team no matter how great the team or how many Hall Of Fame calibre players we got to see.
After I attended the final game in Montreal in September 2004, I was heartbroken to see how our team fizzled out and I felt let down by baseball as a whole. I couldn’t imagine a time when I could ever invest any of my energy into baseball again.
Then I saw the Nationals in 2009.
Then I saw the Cubs at Wrigley Field.
And then I saw the Blue Jays! — and something changed…
By 2010, I realized that while I’d been let down by “The Organization,” I still loved “The Game.”
Right around the same time, Warren Cromartie returned to Montreal to float the idea of the Montreal Baseball Project (MBP) and while I was sceptical, I was hopeful. With time, I started to feel the momentum and was convinced that if we promoted the passion, baseball might one day come back to Montreal.
So in the fall of 2013 I approached the Montreal Baseball Project. I was convinced that I, along with the help of Plank, needed to act on bringing baseball back to this city, so we offered to get involved and to dedicate ourselves to making this happen.
So it’s with great pride that we present to you the 2014 version of the Montreal Baseball Project website. We worked hard with MBP to create a site that reflects the history of Montreal Baseball, while being forward looking. We developed a platform that could grow along with the movement and empower the whole MBP team to keep in touch with the fans and business community.
We created a website to let baseball fans and the international baseball community know that Montreal wants an MLB team. We are dedicated and plan to do whatever we can to make that happen. There are a lot of people and organizations involved in making this dream a reality. Lending our support to this organization was the least we could do to help bring back Nos Amours.
So, what can you do to make this dream a reality? Here are 5 easy steps:
- Like the MBP on Facebook or Twitter
- Join the MBP Fan Club Mailing List
- Attend the 2014 Gala
- Read and share the Feasibility Report
- And make sure to visit the Montreal Baseball Project website.
Join Us. Get involved. Make baseball happen in Montreal again.
P.S. Can we have Youppi back?
