Once again Plank is thrilled to provide our digital expertise in making this Canada-wide three-day event a success.

“The third annual Culture Days weekend kicks off this Friday, September 28 and runs through Saturday, September 29th and Sunday, September 30th with some 7,000 FREE activities happening in nearly 800 Canadian cities and towns from coast to coast to coast.”

Besides making sure the site kept everyone on target from the 2011 wrap-up through to the call for 2012 entries and a final push towards the weekend itself, we worked with the team at Culture days on a few new elements this year.

Here’s 3 we think are pretty great:

  • The launch of a completely integrated social sign-in system. http://janrain.com helps power the accounts and allows users to connect with their Facebook profile. We all understand that not everyone wants
    another web account to track
  • A cool JavaScript powered animation that allows for custom city names in the “I ♥ Culture” Campaign on the homepage. We used image sprites and JavaScript to make sure this worked everywhere (without
    needing Flash).
  • A refined custom search engine. With so many detailed event entries we know that a lot of people are depending on the search to find essential information. http://www.culturedays.ca/en/2012-activities
