“CreativeMornings trumpets all the things that we feel passionate about: Design, Technology, Culture, and, as in the case of this month’s talk, Music”Warren Wilansky
Plank has been a keen supporter of CreativeMornings/Montréal since day one. Our own Steve Bissonnette has been hard at work on the lead committee for the past year, getting the event off the ground and building quite a following. Now, Plank is proud to announce our co-partnership for the next 3 editions of CreativeMornings Montréal. CreativeMornings trumpets all the things that we feel passionate about: Design, Technology, Culture, and, as in the case of this month’s talk, Music. Our open office is a hive of workers with earphones on and we regularly share our favourite music finds and debate the merits of the latest tunes via our office chat. A number of our team play music, and our lead designer has been in numerous Montreal bands over the years. In fact our president Warren Wilansky almost had music career — until his love of design led him to begin Plank instead, almost 15 years ago. Over the past few months, we have seen the Montreal creative community embrace the CreativeMornings events and the buzz continues to build. Plank is a firm believer that the more we involve ourselves into these discussions, the more we are able to develop new ideas and grow new relationships that will inspire our own work. Planker John Bowie (our biz dev director) has even lent his photographic skills to the past four events, to rave reviews from the community.
October with Ghislain Poirer
Our first co-sponsored event is PLAY with Ghislain Poirer, on October 25th at 8am. We’ll be at the Ubisoft Montréal campus, a hotbed for the commercial creative process in the city. We’re in great company as the event is also being co-sponsored by Shopify and Ubisoft Montréal. It’s also great that much of Plank’s staff lives within a few minutes of the venue.
“Drawing from a wide range of tropical riddims and urban electro, the power of Montreal-based DJ/producer Poirier’s bass blasts through any flimsy attempt to classify his music. Pinpointing the bits and pieces of dancehall beats, soca energy and electronic intensity is futile in the face of Poirier’s dance-driven creativity and air horn-worthy excitement. This is a man who just understands what works in the dance.”

Tickets for this event sold out in 8 minutes — but there’s always next month. For information about future events, please follow CreativeMornings/Montréal on Twitter, Facebook and make sure you sign up for the mailing list.
The day of the event you can also follow along live on twitter using the hashtag #MTLCM.
If you’re coming on Friday, we’d love to say hi.
