Upgrades for film festival website in 2017
For the past 20 years, the Fantasia International Film Festival has been bringing off-beat genre gems to the big screen here in Montreal. For 13 of those years, Plank has crafted their online home. We’re proud of the work we’ve done for them, and honoured to hold their trust for so long.
We’re looking forward to continuing our long-standing partnership with Fantasia, and enthusiastic about the changes to come to the website for 2017. Thanks to new funding from SODEC, we’ll be implementing some major improvements to Fantasia’s digital platform. A complete responsive design overhaul will make sure the site looks great whether users are accessing from their desktop, phone, or tablet. We’ll also be migrating more of Fantasia’s backend to Zone Festival, a Quebec-based event management system.
In its 20-year history, the Fantasia Festival has become Montreal’s hottest film festival and one of the most important genre festivals in the world. The 2016 festival attracted over 700 international guests, including 400 industry professionals, as well as over 100,000 film fans for 3 straight weeks of screenings. Their website a critical source of information for the festival’s attendees, and sees 250,000 sessions during its peak summer period. The 2016 festival honoured directors Guillermo Del Toro and Takashi Miike, with a Cheval Noir and Lifetime Achievement Award respectively, and presented the inaugural Prix Denis Héroux to filmmaker Jean-Claude Lord, celebrating his exceptional contribution to the development of québécois genre cinema.
